Cyfrowy Polsat buys into BCAST

May 15, 2020 11.41 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Cyfrowy Polsat has acquired a 69% in the Polish alternative broadcasting company BCAST for an undisclosed fee.

BCAST transmits radio and TV programmes for public and commercial broadcasters throughout Poland and includes TV stations employing local DVB-T multiplexes among its clients. It operates a network of 45 transmitters.

Commenting on the acquisition, Jacek Fewlczykowski, a member of the management board of Cyfrowy Polsat and Polkomtel, said: “BCAST is not only a telecommunications operator, but also a technology company with high-class specialists and unique know-how. We want to use these advantages in the planning and development of our radio network, which will be able to distribute services to both Polsat Group and other companies operating on the media and telecommunications market in Poland. I am also glad that the company’s founders remain in the company and we will be able to cooperate in both the management board and the supervisory board”.

Maciej Lipinski, board member and founder of BCAST, added: “Joining Polsat Group is another important move for us when it comes to the development of BCAST. On the one hand, it is the culmination of the whole team’s work, on the other – a big step in the direction we have set. Support from the partner, Cyfrowy Polsat, will primarily allow us to implement new large contracts, but also to improve the services provided to existing customers. I am convinced that many fascinating projects await us, both in the area of broadcasting and new technologies”.
