Providers of TV services, electronic communication services that offer TV channels and service providers of locally based programme catalogues invested a total of €253.3 million in official language content in Spain in 2018.
This, according to data published by the regulator CNMC, was 16% more than in 2017 and 370% more than three years earlier.
At the same time, the amount invested in European audiovisual works fell by 5%, from €410 million in 2017 to €389.5 million in 2018.
It adds that that together, the total investment in official Spanish language and non-Spanish European language content in 2018 represented 78.3% of the total investment made by providers of TV services in 2018.
CNMC also notes that investment in cinema fell slightly, both for official Spanish and European languages, from €84.3 million in 2017 to €80.5 million in 2018.
