The news channel CNN Prima News has made its debut in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
It was officially launched at 18.55 CET on Sunday, May 3 and will from the following day offer viewers 19 shows a day, together with a main news programme.
Commenting on the development, Prima Group CEO Marek Singer said that the new online platform CNNPrima.cz has also been launched and offers high quality and visually appealing content that complements TV broadcasting.
CNN Prima News is a joint venture between CNN and Prima, one of the two leading commercial broadcasters in the Czech Republic.
It is available free of charge to terrestrial TV viewers in the Czech Republic on the regional network 8, transitional DVB-T2 network 12 and final DVB-T network 22. It will also be offered by DTH, cable and IPTV services such as Vodafone/UPC, Skylink, O2 TV, T-Mobile, Tell, Kuki and sledovanitv.cz.
Furthermore, it will have almost 100% coverage in Slovakia, being offered by FreeSAT, Skylink, Orange Slovakia, Swan and D Slovak Telekom, including Magio.
CNN Prima News is the second channel offered by Prima in Slovakia. The first, Prima Plus, made its debut in the Slovak market two years ago.
