Ukraine welcomes club football TV

April 27, 2020 09.32 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The first ever club football TV channel in Ukraine has made its debut on Violia, the country’s leading cable operator.

As of April 24, Shakhtar TV has been available to over 600,000 Volia digital and OTT subscribers in SD and HD, as well as in the Volia TV mobile app.

Commenting on the development, Sandra Kraujina, Volia’s CMO, said: “The matches involving Shakhtar are of great interest to our audience.

“We are delighted by the fact that football fans have got another TV channel now, so we congratulate FC Shakhtar on the ambitious and necessary project of launching its club television channel. We are excited about our partnership and hope to provide football fans in Ukraine with the unique experience of viewing their favourite content on all platforms”.

Shakhtar TV has been streamed in test mode on the OLL.TV platform. The audience can watch Shakhtar’s archive of match videos featuring Champions League, Europa League (UEFA Cup), Ukrainian Championship and other competitions. Next season, the broadcast schedule will be filled with its own productions.

Andrii Babeshko, Shakhtar TV director, added: “As a European club, we always strive to open up new opportunities for our fans. With the help of club television, they will receive high-quality and, most importantly, exclusive content. Moreover, Shakhtar TV is also a tool for uniting our fans who support the club in different cities and towns of Ukraine as well as abroad”.

Oleksandr Remezovskyi, director for distribution of pay-TV channels & media platforms at Media Group Ukraine (MGU), said: “Media Group Ukraine (MGU) will be engaged in the distribution of Shakhtar TV.

“The channel is already available to subscribers to the OLL.TV platform, in the Volia network and, in May it will be included in packages of the Xtra TV satellite provider and other cable providers. We will try to ensure maximum coverage and wide access of viewers to the Shakhtar TV channel”.
