The integration of M7 into the Canal+ Group has helped push up quarterly revenues at Canal+ Group by 9.6%.
M7, which has pay-TV operations in territories including Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, has grown Canal’s subscriber base at the end of March 2020 to 20.1 million.
This compares to 16.7 million in the first quarter of 2019. It includes 8.4 million in mainland France including 7.8 million individual subscribers, which itself has grown by 62,000 over the last year.
Revenues from television operations in mainland France decreased slightly, by 0.7%, while the integration of M7 saw from international operations grew by 35.3%
Canal said the current Covid-19 health crisis is affecting all of Canal+ Group’s revenue sources. The Group is taking action to ensure the continuity of most of its operations and to implement solidarity initiatives, while increasing its vigilance in reviewing expenditures and investments.
At the request of the French government, Canal+ postponed to April 7, 2020 the launch of Disney + in France, initially scheduled for March 24, due to the risk of network saturation amidst the health crisis.
