MediaKind is extending its partnership with Google Cloud as its end-to-end Aquila Streaming solution is offered as-a-service on the Google Cloud Platform.
The announcement was made during an online press briefing in lieu an NAB cancelled as a result of the Coronacrisis.
It’s a crisis that Stuart Boorn, VP, Product Management, said had accelerated a process already underway for broadcasters.
“There are people who have content who rely on the ability to get that content out into the market. And they can’t do the live events in the same way as they were doing even just one month ago. So the world and the industry has changed. But the media space is not necessarily completely changing its direction. But what we’re really seeing from MediaKind’s perspective is an acceleration.
Mediakind customers will be able to use Google Cloud to deploy media processing and optimise the distribution of their OTT services.
Boorn explained the key streaming solution could be used “on other cloud providers where that makes sense” but the announcement was very much about the Google cloud infrastructure, the compute, and the delivery.
Through the integration into the Google Cloud ecosystem, it now also provides access to a broader range of media applications and workloads through the cloud and into the growing network of Android TV and Google Ad Insertion solutions.
It also eliminates the need for a second headend system.
Last September, Google Cloud was announced as an inaugural partner in the MediaKind Universe Alliance, which brings together content providers, service providers and operators.
