Quibi, the new shortform video streaming platform, reached 1.7 million downloads in its first week, according to CEO Meg Whitman.
The app, which is based around video clips that last no longer than 10 minutes, made its debut on April 6.
The Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform said on April 8 that Quibi had achieved 300,000 downloads on its first day.
Ms Whitman told CNBC the launch had not be hurt by the Coronavirus launch.
Quibi’s snackable videos had been promoted as being ideal for commuting or for short breaks.
In the United States and Canada, Quibi is offering an ad-supported version of the app for $4.99. An ad-free version costs $7.99.
