UEFA has agreed to lift its ban on the broadcast on football matches that kick-off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
The decision was reached after requests from the FA and the Scottish FA amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
It is seen as a possible step towards running matches behind closed doors – last week the FA agreed to suspend the current season with no fixed date for a resumption.
The long-established tradition was in place to protect attendance at smaller clubs that might struggle were top-flight football to broadcast simultaneously.
This has meant while the games have been available internationally, they haven’t been on UK TV screens.
