The commercial launch of the French streaming platform Salto has been put back from September until later this autumn.
Quoting the company’s press service, Le Parisien reports that the original launch date of June 3 will remain unchanged, though it will be for a private beta rather than major test.
It adds that the delay is due to the coronavirus pandemic and the impact it is having on the entire production chain, ranging from filming and post-production to delays in the delivery of content.
Salto is a joint venture between TF1, M6 and France Télévisions and a local response to Netflix and Disney+, which is due to launch in France this Tuesday, April 7.
Prior to the pandemic, the service was expected to make its full debut in September, offering its users a library of 15,000 hours of content for between €5-10 a month.
