The Croatian regulator HAKOM has put back the deadline for discontinuing broadcasts in DVB-T/MPEG-2 and transitioning to DVB-T2 for at least six months.
In a statement, it says that all residents in the country will be able to continue watching TV programmes with existing equipment until the new transition date, which will not be before the end of November or beginning of December 2020.
HAKOM adds that the public will be notified of the exact time of the transition in due course and in the meantime its council will decided to amend all necessary licences for the use of the radio frequency spectrum for terrestrial TV under the same conditions.
HAKOM says that the decision to postpone has been taken due to the coronavirus crisis and how it will significantly affect the availability of receivers to the Croatian population.
At this point it is most important to ensure continuous information for all residents, as well as providing classes for all students through TV programmes.
