The CSA has intervened to force Canal+ to return to encrypted broadcasts.
On Monday night, Canal’s chairman and CEO Maxime Saada announced the paycaster would go in the clear during the Coronavirus outbreak.
However, the media regulator subsequently received complaints from commercial channels TF1 and M6, accusing Canal of unfair competition.
The CSA has subsequently told Canal it must return to encrypted broadcasts on March 31, 15 days earlier than initially planned.
