The Slovak national commercial broadcaster Markiza has signed distribution agreements with the country’s two operators’ associations.
Medialne reports that both the APKT and SAKT now have a new framework agreement with Markiza, with the latter having concluded a new multi-annual agreement with the broadcaster this week.
This agreement includes the leading players Orange and Slovak Telekom, who usually negotiate contracts separately, along with the other members of the SAKT, namely Satro, Swan and DSI data.
The contact allows the members to distribute all the channels in Markiza’s portfolio in HD quality.
Medialne notes that negotiations are still ongoing with Joj, Slovakia’s other leading national commercial broadcaster.
It also says that the situation is in sharp contrast to the one that existed three years ago, when operators threatened to exclude Slovak stations from their offers due to price increases.
