The female-oriented Russian TV channel Domashny has adopted a new programming strategy for 2020.
Quoting its general director Marina Khripunova, Kommersant reports that for the first time in 12 years it has begun to dispense with content obtained from VGRTK’s Rossiya 1.
This follows the decision to no longer use programmes from the First Channel three years ago and it is now focusing on in-house productions.
Domashny requires 6,500 hours of programming annually and will produced 4,500 hours this year, including 350-400 hours of TV shows.
Although it produced only six series in 2017, it plans to make 60 this year.
Domashny is operated by CTC Media, one of Russia’s leading commercial broadcasters.
