Vodafone and Telecom Italia are expected to be given the go-ahead for the combination of their tower businesses.
In a story first reported by Reuters, the European Commission is expected to grant its approval for the plan, ahead of the rollout of 5G technology.
Last July, TIM and Vodafone announced plans to transfer Vodafone’s Italian mobile masts to INWIT, a subsidiary 60% owned by TIM.
Once complete TIM and Vodafone would then hold 37.5% in the combined company.
