Russia’s leading pay-TV operator Tricolor has reached a last-minute agreement with Red Media.
As a result, it will continue to broadcast TV channels distributed by the latter, which is a subsidiary of Gazprom Media.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Tricolor announced last week that it would stop distributing Red Media channels as of the beginning of this month.
Its reason for doing so was failure to reach an agreement with the copyright holder allowing for the possibility broadcasting only sports channels without paying for other thematic services.
In a statement Tricolor says that “The adopted agreements allow us to maintain the current cost of services for viewers of Tricolor.
“Thus, Tricolor customers will still have the opportunity to watch sports, thematic and film content offered by the Red Media TV channels”.
Red Media distributes a total of 38 thematic channels, 17 of which are proprietary.
