The Polish public broadcaster TVP is revisiting the idea of launching a documentary channel.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, its president Jacek Kurski said that intensive work on the channel, to be known as TVP Dokument, is currently taking place.
He added that its launch is tied to the technical possibilities that will come alongside the switch to the DVB-T2 standard.
TVP initially received a licence from the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) to operate a documentary channel in 2013 but failed to launch it within the 18-month time frame stipulated in the terms of the licence.
More recently, it has announced its intention to launch the channel as part of its mission statement (‘Karta Powinnosci’) submitted to the regulator.
