Almost half of the users of the Dutch online TV provider NLZiet use it as their primary TV service.
Furthermore, in addition to NLZiet, 47% of viewers no longer have a fixed TV connection – up from 21% in 2017.
Quoting Telecompaper, NLZiet notes that the number of TV connections in the Netherlands is falling, principally due to the increased cost of traditional TV subscriptions.
Commenting on the development, NLZiet CEO Niels Baas said: “More and more Dutch people see NLZiet as a fully-fledged alternative to the traditional TV package. With recent channel extensions, the national video platform now offers 34 live streams and more than 110,000 on-demand programmes the largest content offering of all SVOD platforms in the Netherlands”.
NLZiet is a collaboration between Dutch Public Broadcasting, RTL Nederland and Talpa TV.
