Telefónica ended 2019 with 4.7 million convergent customers in its home market Spain.
Although it saw a slight net quarterly loss of 15,000, this represented a year-on-year increase of 1%. At the same time, the number of quarterly services continued to grow quarter-on-quarter to 23 million (+3% year-on-year), resulting in a 2% increase in services per customer (4.9) compared to 2018.
Although the number of convergent IPTV/satellite customers at the end of 2019 stood at 3,081,600, or 2.4% more than a year earlier.
Telefónica España’s overall pay-TV subscriber total decreased by 0.4% to 4,073,800 in the year to December 31, 2019.
Telefónica Group as a whole had revenues of €48,422 million in 209 (-0.6% reported), with OIDBA of €15,119 million (-2.9% reported). Its profit for the year was €1,664 million, down 57.9% on a year earlier.
In his comments on the company’s latest set of results, chairman and CO José María Álvarez-Pallete said: “2019 saw an important year for Telefónica. We met our guidance, with all our core markets growing in organic terms”.
