Magyar Telekom grows IPTV base

The Hungarian incumbent Magyar Telekom gained nearly 100,000 IPTV subscribers in its home market in 2019.

It also grew its IPTV base in North Macedonia, though by a more modest 8,000.

Results published by the company show that it ended 2019 with 814,771 IPTV subscribers in Hungary, up from 714,980 a year earlier.

At the same time, its DTH and cable TV customer totals fell from 263,700 to 239,274 and 108,974 to 106,770 over the same period.

Its blended TV market share was 30.6% in Q4 2018, with an end-2019 not available, while the TV customer total rose from 1,087,724 to 1,157,813.

Meanwhile, blended TV ARPU fell from HUF3,370 (€10.04) to HUF3,283.

In North Macedonia, Telekom’s subsidiary had 136,372 IPTV at the end of 2019, up from 128,406 a year earlier.

Magyar Telekom’s revenues in Q4 2019 were 4.1% higher than a year earlier, while EBITDA was up by 23.4%.
