Discovery has provided an official response to accusations made against it by Telekom Romania.
In it, Victoria Davies, SVP, general manager for Discovery in CEEMCA, says: “We are once again surprised by the statements recently made by Telekom Romania. Discovery did not demand any increase in prices. We offered Telekom even more content value without any price increase – for example new rights, such as the ATP Tour on Eurosport.
“Any increase in prices by Telekom to the subscriber would be entirely their decision and cannot be connected to Discovery.
“We regret that Telekom customers are not able to see Premier League, the Grand Slams, Olympic Summer Games on Eurosport, Wheeler Dealers, Big with Richard Hammond on Discovery Channel, Dr. Pimple Popper, Say Yes to the Dress on TLC, and are now getting less value from their operator. Our much-loved shows and sports content are available to fans via Akta, Digi, Orange, Upc and Vodafone. Also, fans are able to access our sports content via Eurosport Player app”.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Telekom Romania has claimed that the withdrawal of Discovery channels from its offer at the end of last year has had little impact on subscriber numbers.
