The Russian OTT service TVzavr saw its income increase by 25% to R950 million (€13.67 million) in 2019.
Furthermore, reports Comnews, its owner plans to increase it by a further 20-25% this year by producing its own movies, low prices for content and aggressive advertising and marketing strategies.
It adds that in 2019 TVzavr’s growth in revenues from video content amount to 25%, while sales of paid content tripled.
The number of unique users per month grew to 40 million thanks largely to those who accessed the service via smart TVs.
Most users were aged 25-45 and found in large towns and cities.
Furthermore, TVzavr had around 55,000 titles in its library at the end of last year.
Significantly, the service says it is in active negotiations with prospective investor from China, South Korea and Japan, as well as local Russian players.
