Canal+ Group and beIN Sports have finalised the distribution and sublicense agreement first announced last December.
Canal+ will now be able to offer all of beIN’s premium sports channels within its bouquets and becomes the exclusive distributor of beIN Sports across all platforms in France, including third party operators.
beIN Sports has also licensed its 2020-2024 Ligue 1 football rights to Canal, meaning that subscribers will be able to enjoy two matches per day including 28 of the 38 best matches each season.
Yousef Al-Obaidly, president of beIN Sports France and CEO of beIN Media Sport, said: “The French market for pay sports channels is undergoing radical changes, the consequence of the arrival of new players. Distributors of premium content, having acquired rights at a reasonable price will continue to develop successfully. This is precisely what beIN Sports os doing, in particular by sealing this partnership with Canal+.”
“We are delighted with this partnership with beIN SPORTS, whose very high-quality sports offer perfectly complements ours,” added Maxime Saada, Chairman of the CANAL + Group Executive Board.
The exclusive agreement is valid for a renewable period of 5 years.
