More companies have announced they plan to withdraw from MWC 2020 in Barcelona.
BT, Deutsche Telekom and Nokia have all confirmed they will not be participating, throwing this year’s GSMA event into doubt.
The Finnish telecoms manufacturer said it has taken the decision to withdraw from the event after a full assessment of the risks, while BT said it had come to its conclusion after “careful discussions and planning”.
Nokia says it will now go directly to customers with a series of “Nokia Live” events aimed at showcasing the industry-leading demos and launches scheduled for MWC.
Event organisers GSMA have imposed a number of precautionary measures including restrictions on visitors from China and the introduction of temperature screening.
Amazon and Sony have already withdrawn from the event that is scheduled to be held later this month.
