Amazon has hired leading television executive Mike Hopkins to head its streaming and video business.
Hopkins joins as senior vice president for Prime Video and Amazon Studios. Most recently with Sony, Hopkins will replace Jeffrey Blackburn who last year announced he would be taking a sabbatical.
He will report directly to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Jen Salke, who has run Amazon Studios for the past 2 years will now report to Hopkins.
Amazon sees Prime Video as one of the key selling points of its Prime offer that began as a subscription service for expedited parcel delivery.
