Radio Televisión Española says it will leave the Astra satellite neighbourhood at 19 degrees East later this month.
Since December 15, 2019 programmes from the public broadcasters channels TVE Internacional, Canal 24 Horas and RNE have been simulcast from Eutelsat’s Hotbird 13B satellite (13 degrees East).
The simulcast will cease on February 29, from when transmissions on Astra will cease.
As of March 1, 2020, users who have not redirected their dishes to the new satellite will not be able to receive the RTVE signal.
High Definition channels TVE Internacional and Canal 24 Horas will also be switching to the DVB-S2 transmission standard common among the majority of European channels.
