Disney+, which will launch in Germany on March 24, 2020, is already attracting strong interest.
3.7 million video-on-demand (VOD) users in Germany indicate that they want to use Disney+, according to a recent survey by research and consulting group Goldmedia on its VOD-Ratings platform.
54% of German VOD users have already heard of Disney+, 34% want to use the service right from the start. Most potential customers want to sign up for Disney+ in addition to their existing streaming subscriptions (67%) and only one third plan to cancel another service for it (33%).
However, Netflix would not be the most affected service by a user migration, as many expected. Only 6% of Netflix users are considering leaving the service for Disney+.
Sky Ticket, on the other hand, would be much more affected according to the survey: 15.8% are considering leaving. The possible integration of Disney+ on the Sky Q platform, as it is already the case with Netflix, thus appears to be a good measure, according to Goldmedia.
75% of German viewers want to subscribe to a maximum of two streaming services. On average, they are prepared to pay a total of €20.50 per month for video streaming.
