Record growth for NTV-Plus OTT service

January 27, 2020 14.38 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Russian digital and satellite TV operator NTV-Plus ended 2019 with 151,500 paying subscribers to its OTT platform.

This, says the company in a statement, was 81% more than in 2018.

Furthermore, the retention rate of customers exceeded 85%, which indicated a high degree of loyalty from its audience.

NTV-Plus notes that 14% of its satellite TV customers watched the OTT service at the end of last year. However, it is not necessary to be an NTV-Plus satellite TV customer to receive it.

Commenting on the figures, Konstantin Smirnov, director of the NTV-Plus digital products department, said: “The past year has shown that the main trends have not changed: the audience continues to migrate to the digital environment, the viewer is becoming less and less “tied ” to one screen, internet access and data transfer speed are growing. Therefore, the future lies with operators who can offer integrated products and quality services in all environments. The increase in the NTV-Plus online television audience shows that the strategy we have chosen is correct: cooperation with popular libraries, a convenient sales scheme and modern technical solutions ensure the successful development of our own OTT platform”.

NTV-Plus’s OTT service includes eight thematic packages, VOD libraries Amediateka Home of HBO, Megogo, Start, a library of adult films, mobile TV and catch-up.
