The second season of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s dark spy drama Killing Eve has become the biggest show of the year to date.
At 40.4 million requests the show is 13 million requests ahead of the second place Line of Duty.
However, Killing Eve benefitted from having its entire season released on the same date as the first episode was screened on BBC One.
Killing Eve’s first season has also continued to prove hugely popular – in spite of first launching last year the first series was still the fifth biggest series of the year with 22.3 million requests, and since last year the two together have seen over 105 million requests.
Waller-Bridge’s comedy Fleabag was iPlayer’s biggest comedy of the year with 20.3 million requests.
Other strong performers include favourites like Strictly, The Apprentice and MasterChef, plus new series The Capture also made the top ten.
