If it’s a Christmas movie that you’re after then Amazon Prime is the best place to go looking, says Ampere Analysis.
In a study of the catalogues of the leading streaming services, Ampere found the Amazon Prime catalogue boasted the largest number of movie titles containing the words ‘Christmas’, ‘Santa’, or ‘Snow’.
This represents a sleigh-busting 320 hours of Christmas-themed movie content, compared with just 103 hours available on Netflix. 40% of the streaming world’s Christmas film titles can be found on Amazon.
However, Netflix is still the holiday destination for original content, such as The Christmas Prince. Amazon is yet to venture into any Christmas titles, though UK viewers will benefit from the streamer’s Boxing Day coverage of the Premier League.
Proportion of titles within Christmas Genre
Amazon Prime Video 39.6%
Netflix 12.87%
Hulu 5.94%
iFlix 5.94%
NowTV 4.95%
