One in seven users of electronic communications in Slovenia opt for Netflix, Voyo, HBO Go or other paid on demand services.
In a study undertaken by the regulator AKOS with the help of an external contractor, it was also found that the main reasons for doing so were the content (40.7%), followed by additional services (21.2%) and availability or accessibility (20.4%).
The study, which was undertaken in October, showed that nearly one in three (29.6%) respondents paid over €80 a month to receive electronic communication services. At the other end of the scale, fewer than 5% of respondents paid less than €30 a month, while overall over half (52.5%) paid between €31 and €80.
The average monthly expenditure for electronic communication services was €76.13 per household or €35.40 per individual.
Most households surveyed used IPTV services (51%), followed by cable TV (40%), with the main reason for doing so being the service was bundled. In second place was that it was an additional service and the third its price. While the number of IPTV subscribers increased, the cable TV subscriber total fell.
The majority (79.6%) of respondents chose a bundled package that included at least two electronic communication services. Of these, the largest (30.3%) was for triple-play, though this has gradually been losing share at the expense of quad-play (29.5%).
