Baring Vostok sells Russian tower stake

December 16, 2019 09.22 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Russian media entrepreneur Ivan Tavrin has acquired a stake in the mobile tower company Vertical from Baring Vostok for an undisclosed fee.

Kommersant reports that Vertical is the second largest independent tower company in the country and includes MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom and Tele2 among its clients.

It is present in 10 Russian regions, with up to 90% of its infrastructure in Moscow and Moscow region.

The company was founded by Georgy Chumburidze in 2013 and Baring Vostok became a shareholder four years later.

Tavrin’s main interests lie in broadcasting and include UTV Holding, which encompasses the Yu, Muz-TV and Disney channels.
