Around two thirds of fixed broadband connections in Romania are now made through FTTH or FTTB.
According to data published by the regulator ANCOM, the figure stood at 62% as of the middle of this year.
At the same time, 71%, or 3.7 million, of fixed broadband connections were at high speeds of at least 100 Mbps.
RCS&RDS (Digi) was the market leader with a share of 52%, followed by Telekom (22%), UPC (12%) and other providers (14%).
The total number of fixed broadband connections remained at 5.1 million in mid-2019, slightly increasing by 1%.
Of these, 3.1 million (+0.2%) were in urban areas and 1.6 million (+2%) in rural areas.
