The proprietary sports channels Futbol 1 and Futbol 2 will be broadcast on a la carte basis from next year by their owner Media Group Ukraine (MGU).
At the same time, the channel Futbol 3 will continue to be made available to cable networks.
Speaking about the company’s plans for next year, including the coverage of Euro 2020, Alexander Denisov, director of Futbol 1,2 and 3, and Fedir Grechaninov, director of strategic development at MGU, also said that the final of the football tournament may be shown in 4K.
Denisov added that this would be the first time such an event would be shown in the format despite the expense – €8,000 – of receiving it via satellite.
He also said that there is an option to also show games featuring the Ukrainian national team at Euro 2020 in 4K.
