Virgin Media Ireland launches connected home experience

December 4, 2019 11.27 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Virgin Media in Ireland has unveiled a new ‘smart home experience’, bundling, broadband, television, mobile and smart home capability into a single package.

The custom-built Smart Home experience includes smart home technology products from Google and TP-Link.

The new packs were unveiled Tuesday in a purpose built new ‘home’ at the company’s HQ in Dublin. They were first launched by the company in October.

A Google Nest Hub with 7-inch HD touchscreen display and speaker can control the home via voice and provide visual answers to questions.

The Virgin Media Complete Pack also comes with a Google Nest Hello Doorbell, Google Nest Mini, Google Chromecast and 2 TP-Link Smart Plugs.

Karen Faughnan, Senior Propositions Manager at Virgin Media Ireland says there is a growing appetite for smart devices among the public: “Our research shows that 60% of Irish consumers are planning to purchase smart home devices in the next 12 months and over 58% of those surveyed had already purchased one or more smart home device as distinct from smart TV’s/phones etc”.

Packages start from as little as €15 a month with customers free to keep the devices once the 12 monthly payments are complete.
