A judge has granted a new hearing in Vivendi’s request to block the pan-European television project led by Mediaset.
On Friday, Mediaset announced that despite “strenuous efforts” attempts at a conciliation between the French and Italian companies had failed.
Plans for MediaforEurope, which would wrap Mediaset’s Italian and Spanish operations into a single Dutch held company, have become the focal point for the long-running dispute between Mediaset and Vivendi.
Earlier, Vivendi had offered to sell part of its 29% share in a bid to break the deadlock.
Mediaset says it will now move ahead with plans for an extraordinary meeting of the company’s shareholders.
