Satellite Mediaport Services selected as Amos European Gateway

December 2, 2019 12.07 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Satellite Mediaport Services (SMS) will act as the European Gateway for the newly operational AMOS-17 communication satellite.

SMS, located in Rugby, Warwickshire is uplinking the first carriers of data services over C-Band and Ku-Band – Broadband Internet and Telecom – on AMOS-17, serving Africa from 17 degrees East.

“SMS is delighted to have been selected by Spacecom to provide services on their AMOS-17 satellite. We look forward to working together to meet the growing needs of communication service providers and operators throughout Africa. With our dedicated antenna systems and high-end command and control centre, we are a true gateway for all aspects of communications to and from Africa,” stated Zvi Golod, CEO and Chairman of the Board at SMS Teleport.

“Working with the SMS Teleport team provides a tremendous start for AMOS-17’s commercial operations. We are quickly building our network into Africa and beyond. SMS’ gateway is an excellent platform for communication operators seeking smart and flexible solutions,” added David Pollack, CEO of Spacecom.

The HTS satellite has C-Band HTS, Ka-Band and Ku-Band. It supports connectivity between Africa, the Middle East, Europe, India and China.
