Philips and Nenda to launch next gen TV experience for hotel market

November 29, 2019 09.45 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Philips Professional Display Solutions has announced a new collaboration with Stockholm-based TV innovator, Nenda.

The deal will bring a new streaming service for hotel rooms that will revolutionise the way guests watch TV.

This collaboration will bring the features of Philips Professional Display Solutions’ MediaSuite Pro TV –Android-powered, Google certified and with Chromecast built-in – together with Nenda’s streaming service, to deliver next generation TV entertainment to the hotel market. The aim is to ease complexity for integrators, reduce costs for hoteliers and to provide guests with up-to-date TV entertainment that goes far beyond today’s impersonal, schedule-bound TV experience. The solution will be tested during winter 2019 and spring 2020 in hotel chains and care companies in the Nordic region.

“We are delighted to be working in collaboration with Philips Professional Display Solutions and their new MediaSuite Pro TV” says Per Romild, Head of Sales and Co-founder of Nenda.

“Integration with MediaSuite is simple and it is also easy for the hotel staff to manage. The collaboration will enable us to present the market’s first fully internet-driven TV solution, which reduces the complexity of installation and maintenance for hotels and delivers a much better experience for the guest.”

Nenda’s streaming app is easily accessible, directly on the Philips MediaSuite TV, which means roll-out times are reduced to days, instead of weeks or even months. The solution also delivers a number of other practical benefits for hotels; for example, set top boxes and central units are no longer required, which reduces hardware costs, bringing total cost of ownership down and raising the return on investment. Customer satisfaction is simple to measure through MediaSuite’s survey function, enabling hoteliers to send questionnaires directly to their guests via the TV.

“We are looking forward to working together with Nenda to bring this cutting-edge TV experience to more hotels in the marketplace,” says Mikael da Fonseca, Sales Director Nordics at Philips Professional Display Solutions.

“Since launching MediaSuite earlier this year, we have had astounding feedback from satisfied customers. Not only does MediaSuite deliver benefits for the hotel, its built-in Chromecast enables guests to ‘cast’ their own content. Adding Nenda’s first-class entertainment via the most common TV channels and a large library of on-demand films and series directly onto the TVs makes perfect sense. A truly complementary partnership.”
