Ofcom has set out its conclusions to the likely effects of the merger between CBS Corporation and Viacom to Channel 5.
The regulator has considered the potential impact on Channel 5’s news and current affairs output, its original productions, and on programmes it produces outside of London.
It’s concluded the change of control would not have a prejudicial effect on Channel 5’s delivery in these areas.
Ofcom is required by the Communications Act to review the likely effects of the change.
The merger into ViacomCBS is expected to conclude on December 4.
Its interests will also include the CBS television network and the Paramount film studio.
