Alexander Smirnov has been appointed VP for legal issues at Rostelecom.
In this position he will be responsible for the the legal support of the telco’s activities, legal support of transactions, judicial protection of its interests, preparation and implementation of a strategy for managing legal risks, and also overseeing the activities of the legal support unit.
Smirnov has over 18 years of professional experience and since earlier this was MD for Legal Risks and Compliance, Moscow Exchange.
Commenting on the appointment, Rostelecom president Mikhail Oseevsky said: “Digitalisation penetrates all the company’s business processes, which requires, among other things, profound and diverse changes in the management of the legal sphere.
“Alexander Smirnov will have to use his professional experience and qualifications to strengthen the team of the legal support unit, since the functioning and application of digital technologies already today require effective legal support and protection that meet current challenges.”
