Digi was the leading provider of pay-TV services in Hungary irrespective of technology in September, claiming a market share of 29.84%.
However, according to data published by the regulator NMHH, its top spot was almost shared by Magyar Telekom, with 29.65%. Vodafone was third with 18.84% and UPC Direct fourth with 6.55%.
Telekom nevertheless held top spot in the fixed-line broadcasting sector (29.7%), just ahead of Digi (29.4%), with Vodafone claiming third spot (24.6%).
The number of digital TV subscriptions in Hungary in September, based data provided by the top 10 operators, stood at 2,743,556, up from 2,740,026 a month earlier.
At the same time, analogue subscriptions continued to fall, down from 662,860 to 660,506 over the same period.
Digital penetration stood at 80.6% (80.5%).
In terms of technology, digital cable and IPTV accounted for over half (56.1%, compared to 55.8% a month earlier).
It was followed by DTH/DVB-T (24.5%, cf 24.7%) and analogue cable (19.4% v 19.5%).
