Digi has carried out its first live 5G test in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
According to parent company Digi Communications, the first base station broadcasts on 20 MHz of its own spectrum, already held in the 3,400 MHz band, with Ericsson as the partner.
From this moment, any Digi client that owns a 5G compatible device can test the capabilities of the service in proximity of the Digi’s headquarters in Budapest.
Different base stations on Digi’s network will be tested in the coming months.
Hungary is the second market in which Digi has started developing its own 5G network. In June, it began rolling out the Digi Mobil 5G Smart network in Romania and broadcast stations are already live in Bucharest and several other cities.
In this instance, the project is being implemented with the help of Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei.
Digi, which is one of the leading pay-TV and broadband providers in Hungary, launched its Digi Mobil service in the country in May this year.
