Vivendi could reduce its 29% stake in the Italian broadcaster Mediaset on order to end a long-running dispute between the two companies.
Quoting three unnamed sources close to the matter, Reuters adds that a transaction would help the European expansion plans of Mediaset, which is controlled by the family of the former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.
Specifically, these envisage the creation of a service known as MediaForEurope.
This is opposed by Vivendi and the two parties have been given until the end of next week by an Italian court to resolve the dispute.
