Lithuania’s Radio and Television Centre (Telecentras) has posted profits of €637,000 for the first nine months of this year.
Its operating income amounted to €15.5 million, or 1.9% more than in the same period in 2018, and revenues were boosted by increased TV channel retransmission services (+6%) and in particular strong IPTV sales (Mezon TV), up 41%.
Mezon internet services grew by 2%, while the visitors’ service in Vilnius TV Tower earned 18% more income.
EBITDA in the first nine months of this year was €4.5 million, compared to €4.8 million in the same period in 2018.
Telecentras notes that it undertook intense preparatory work in the third quarter ahead of the launch of HD IPTV (Mezon) services in Q4.
Commenting on the company’s results, CEO Remigijus Seris said: “During the third quarter, Telecentras continued to focus on its role as the largest provider of TV programmes over wireless networks in the country.
“We have added another channel, TVP Wilno, to the list of TV programmes broadcast over Telecentro’s terrestrial TV networks. This channel was broadcast in September in the South East Lithuania region. Increasing the number of TV programmes, along with the parallel development of the hybrid TV HiTV service, will help ensure high-standard FTA TV viewing today and in the future”.
