Jonathan Oxley will become its interim chief executive, the regulator has announced.
Oxley is currently group director for competition and board member for Ofcom. He’ll move to the chief executive’s seat when Sharon White leaves at the end of November.
Lord Burns, Ofcom Chairman, said: “Jonathan is extremely well equipped to step up to provide important continuity for Ofcom and the sectors it regulates.”
Jonathan Oxley said: “I’m delighted the Board has asked me to become interim Chief Executive. I’m looking forward to delivering on our priorities for people and businesses.”
It’s understood Oxley has not applied for the permanent chief executive.
The process is continuing and the Ofcom Board expects to announce an appointment after the General Election, held on December 12.
