The Spanish competition commission has launched an investigation into 14 companies involved in film distribution.
The enquiry takes in six large film distributors including Disney, Sony, Paramount, Warner Bros and Universal, an audience measurement company, and another providing digital display service.
National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) is concerned over the relationship with the digital cinema company Ymagis, which it says has standardised its commercial policies.
It’s also worried about the exchange of commercially sensitive information between large distributors, through the Rentrak audience measurement company, in the Spanish film distribution market.
The investigation could take up to 18 months.
