The Croatian regulator HAKOM has announced that the use of the DVB-T MPEG-2 system will cease as soon as May 25, 2020 in some regions of the country.
In a statement, it adds that this follows a request from the national transmission company OiV to bring the start of the transition to DVB-T2 with H.265/HEVC coding slightly forward from July 1 next year.
This is in the public’s interest to ensure that the system is changed before the start of the European Championships.
These will take place from June 12 to July 12 and DVB-T2 will allow them to be covered in HD.
