Ireland’s Eir has become the latest operator to adopt Apple TV as its primary set-top box.
In a revamp of its TV offer, the telco will supplement is own original channels with those on the Apple TV box, including RTE Player, Netflix, Now TV and Apple’s own TV service.
Eir says it wanted to base its future around on demand content.
A new Eir app will be made available as part of the €19.99 a month service that will include 100 channels.
Apple TV+ will be free for the first 12 months.
The current Eir Vision service has 78,000 customers; 305,000 subscribers take Eir Sport across all platforms.
Packages start at €49.99 for Eir broadband and TV for the first six months, increasing to €79.99 from then on.
Eir has also launched a new fibre broadband modem, capable of speeds of up to 1Gbps.
