Vodafone plans to launch its OTT service in Hungary in the near future.
Quoting unnamed sources, HWSW reports that it will operate on the same basis as Vodafone TV in other markets.
Besides not requiring customers to have an internet subscription supplied by Vodafone, it will include an app allowing them to access content on mobiles and tablets.
Furthermore, it is expected to be based on an Android set-top box with special software and give customers access to linear and on demand content, such as YouTube and Netflix, through a unique interface.
Vodafone recently completed the acquisition of UPC Hungary and it remains to be seen if Vodafone TV boxes will work with UPC Horizon boxes or be alternated.
Vodafone TV will enter a market in which Magyar Telekom is currently rolling out its next generation IPTV platform.
