Amazon is expected to use the launch of the Mipcom TV market in Cannes to reveal its plans for Amazon channels in France.
It had been anticipated that Amazon would launch the service in May 2019. Now, Le Figaro says the parcels to entertainment company will launch the service to existing Amazon Prime customers during the TV market.
The US firm has agreements in place with SFR and Free, which already distribute Amazon Prime Video with discussions underway with Bouygues Telecom and Orange for distribution on their boxes.
The French line-up is expected to include Starzplay with AB1, Chasse & Pêche, RTL9 and beIN Sports also mentioned.
However, there is concern over the terms of entry to the platform with one source quoted by Le Figaro suggesting a revenue share of 50-50 or 60-40.
