Moldova has put back the date it will complete the transition to digital broadcasting.
Quoting Adrian Lebedinsky, the chairman of the parliamentary commission on culture, education, research, youth, sports and the media, Bloknot reports that it will now take place on March 1, 2020, rather than the previously announced date of January 1, 2020.
He added that the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure would now turn to the Broadcasting Council will recommendations for the media about how to inform the public on the need to switch to digital TV.
The Ministry will distribute 9,000 receivers to the most needy families and more will be ordered if required.
It has also been decided to increase the number of free channels on the DTT multiplex from 15 to 18.
